Newtown Rovers 2  vs  2 Allenwood Celtic (Match Report)

Newtown started strongest and went in two nil up at half time. Very poor Allenwood Celtic performance in first half, who were more interested in arguing amongst themselves and the referee than they were in playing football.

However it was almost like a different Celtic team emerged in the 2nd half, working together and they started to enjoy it more. Their hard work paid off when they pulled one back in the 65th minute after a good free kick from Shane Curran was only parried  by the Newtown keeper and Emmet Moore was quickest to the breaking ball to finish with a neat side foot. Game on.

Celtic playing with more belief now grabbed an equaliser in the 70th minute  after substitute Conor Staines got on the end of a beautifully weighted through ball from Emmet Moore, and Staines slotted it home low and hard under the advancing Newtown keeper.

Both sides had chances to win it in the last 15 minutes but it finished 2-2. Newtown will perhaps be disappointed for allowing Allenwood back into the game.

Allenwood with a complete Jeckyl and Hyde performance in contrasting halves were best served by keeper Gary Percival, Paul O Loughlin at full back and team captain Emmet Moore.
